Founded by Corvina, HOSEF Store is a unique homeware destination in Wandsworth, bringing together vintage treasures, vinyl and carefully curated finds from independent designers and makers. A place where nostalgia meets discovery, every item has a story to tell.

Describe your business in one sentence?

HOSEF Store is an alternative home store. An eclectic place where familiarity meets discovery, mixing eras, cultures and influences to create homes that feel personal.

When did you start your business and what inspired you to do so?

I started out upcycling vintage furniture which evolved into a passion for collecting and then selling vintage homeware.

Tell us about the name – where does it derive from?

HOSEF is the surname of the late George Hosef – my Jamaican grandad. When I started out, I decided to use the surname as an acronym for Handpicked Old Stuff & Eclectic Finds.

What can people expect to find in your shop?

Nostalgic vintage pieces, unique objects and a good selection of vinyl. Plus some of London’s best (in my opinion) independent designers and makers from towels, to tablecloths, candles and skincare layered together to create a home store with a difference.

Tell us about some of the events that take place in your shop.

We often collaborate with some of the brands and designers we stock to run workshops and pop-up events.

Tell us something about you that not many people would know.

This isn’t my first business. I ran my very first one almost 20 years ago from a market stall on Northcote Road.

What three tips would you give an entrepreneur thinking of  launching a retail business?

  1. You can’t be half-in
  2. You have be consistent
  3.  You have to want to do the right thing for your customer.
