Discover the flavours, stories and heritage of Tooting’s African and Caribbean communities on this guided food tour as part of Black History Month.
Led by Geoff Simmons (Planet Tooting) and Chantelle Bent (Chantelle’s Community Kitchen), the tour explores one of South London’s most culturally diverse neighbourhoods through its food businesses and community stories.
Participants will visit a selection of local African and Caribbean restaurants, cafés, bakeries and food businesses, including Kimmie’s Jerk Joint, Changos, Elsa’s Kitchen, Kenkey, Sunyani, Sunshine, Minerva, Ital Vital and Mixed Blessings Bakery.
Along the way, attendees will meet business owners, chefs and food producers, hear about the cultural heritage behind their food, and sample a variety of African and Caribbean dishes. The tour celebrates the role these businesses play in Tooting’s local community and cultural identity
