Describe your business in one sentence:
We believe short journeys are best by bike — that’s why we help families switch to cargo bikes by keeping them safe, serviced, and road-ready, especially for the school run (which kids love too!)
What problems do you solve for customers?
Cargo Bikes are very unique and complex vehicles. We handle everything from flat tyres to full services and health checks. The aim is always to leave the site with a fully functional bike but most importantly a safe one.
Why Wandsworth?
Nick grew up in the borough and learned to cycle on Wandsworth Common—it’s home, and we want to help it stay green and happy as possible.
When did you launch and who’s involved?
We launched in April 2025. It’s just the two of us—Nick is the lead mechanic and handles repairs, whilst I run the operation/administration side of the business. Nick introduced me to cycling when we met and turned me into a commuter/sometimes weekend cyclist, so starting this business together was exciting!
What were you doing before this?
Nick spent years in the bike trade, most recently at London Cycle Workshop. I have a background in hospitality/retail and took a Project Management course about a year ago and learnt about the structure of businesses then.
How do you promote bike safety locally
?Nick educates customers on basic maintenance during appointments, helping them feel confident in caring for their bikes.
What support have you received?
We’re self-funded but have been supported by mentors such as Simon England, owner of The London Cycle Workshop (St John’s Hill) and James Bower owner of The Spokesman (Surrey) have both been a constant source of support and inspiration.
What has been your biggest challenge so far?
Rapid growth—it’s been exciting but overwhelming in the best way. It’s honestly amazing how well the business has been received and the kind words our customers have to say about us.
If you could go back and start again, is there anything you’d do differently?
We wish we’d started sooner!
Why should more people cycle daily?
It’s faster, greener, healthier, cheaper—and great for city infrastructure.
What are your top 3 tips for new entrepreneurs?
- Don’t be afraid to ask friends or relatives for help
- Believe in what you’re doing and be passionate about it.
- It is not as hard as you think once you commit to it. Trust yourself and the process!
How has Wandsworth’s cycling culture changed?
It’s growing every year and we’re excited to be part of the movement.
What makes you different from big bike shops?
We come to your door and aim to fix your bike on the same day. We take pride in being a small friendly family business. We don’t have to include overheads such as rent so we are able to maintain a fair pricing for our customers.
Do you work with schools or groups?
We’re beginning outreach and would love to host local family cycling events.
Describe a memorable customer moment?
Recently I was stopped by a family while cycling along, who wanted to make an appointment after recognising out logo from a group chat. It was surreal and proud moment.
How do sustainability and environmental impact factor into how you run your business?
Our business is almost completely green. We do have to use electricity to charge the bike we use to get around and attend bookings. But there is no doubt that all kinds of bicycles have a very positive impact on sustainability and the environment.
